Can we not just
be friends
living amicably together?
Instead of you
always tearing apart –
my pride, my dignity, my honour
testing my patience, my iman, my pledge to Allah
till I don't recognised me for who I am -
for who I was, even -
Can we be just that?
We might not together end in heaven
But let’s not make this a living hell either…
